Having a morning routine that you love will make you want to wake up early. When you do a certain set of activities that leave you feeling energized and ready to start your day, you are motivated to wake up early and do them everyday.

What are the morning routine ideas that will make you want to wake up early?
Make your bed
After waking up early, we often forget to make our bed immediately and postpone it for later. The more we do this, the less our will power and concentration gets. The first law of concentration is to finish what you start. This means that you have to finish sleeping by making your bed. Its also an opportunity to try different styles of spreading your bed and see what suits you. There is nothing more exciting than coming home to a nicely made bed.
Do your devotion or meditation
If you are a religious person, you can take the time to do your devotion. However, you can also do meditation. It all depends on your personal preference.
Smile
Smiling will put more living into your life. Make it a habit to smile for five minutes in front of your mirror every morning. It helps you feel positive and start your day on a good note.
Get some light
Allow light to get to your beautiful skin after waking up. Open your curtains or bask to allow the rays to get in contact with your skin.
Wake up at a consistent time
This also includes the weekends and holidays. Sleeping and waking up at the same time consistently builds up the desire for sleep and lowers your chances of experiencing insomnia. But you need to avoid sleeping in as it makes you alter your sleep pattern and you tend to not get sleep when you are supposed to be asleep. There are more hacks you can use to sleep instantly at night. I have outlined a detailed guide on hacks that you can use to sleep instantly at night in this post.
Waking up at a consistent time everyday slowly gets you into a routine which ultimately makes you feel excited to wake up early everyday.
Drink water
After sleeping for more than 6 hours without drinking water, your body tends to be dehydrated. This means that you will wake up thirsty. After waking up, if your first sight is a glass of water, your natural instinct will tell you to drink it. This will help you wake up. Drinking water might be followed by an urge to pee which creates motion. Walking to the toilet will shake you awake. By the time you want to go back to bed to sleep a little longer, you will be already awake.
The best way to get the most from drinking water in the morning is to drink three glasses of water immediately after waking up. You should do this before brushing your teeth and on an empty stomach. If you find it difficult to start with four glasses, start with one and gradually increase the amount. Do not eat anything for the next 45 minutes. After 45 minutes are over, you can eat and drink as normal.
Exercise
When you exercise, your brain releases endorphins, a chemical that fights stress, which reduces the perception of pain and releases other mood enhancing hormones such as serotonin and dopamine. Endorphin is the reason why exercise makes you feel good. It has a similar and addictive behavior like nicotine and morphine but it is good for us. The feeling that exercise gives is known as “runner’s high.” However, unlike morphine, the activation of receptors by the body’s endorphins does not lead to addiction or dependence.
Research shows that 30 minutes of exercise three times a week is more effective when it is done consistently. However, I recommend you to consult your physician to determine the best exercise for you especially if you have an underlying health condition.
Take a relaxing bath
Taking a relaxing bath has the following benefits:
- Improve your blood circulation.
- Cold morning showers help to decrease stress.
- It increases your immunity by stimulation your body to make new white blood cells.
- Have a more positive effect when it comes to balancing your skin’s natural oil and improving acne.
- It relieves cough.
- Washes away toxins.
With that said, taking a relaxing bath every morning will help you glow, be more healthy and motivate you to wake up early in order to take one.
Eat a healthy breakfast
Eating a healthy breakfast gives you energy because your glycogen stores are low due to the long period of time that you have spent without eating any food. Research shows that breakfast eaters tend to be more physically active in the morning than those who do not eat until later in the day.
A healthy breakfast provides a lot of your day’s total nutrient intake. Most people who eat breakfast are more likely to meet their recommended daily intakes of vitamins and minerals. People who regularly eat breakfast are also less likely to be overweight or obese. This is because it prevents large fluctuations of your blood glucose level which helps you control your appetite and fills you up before you become really hungry which prevents you from just eating anything. Eating healthy breakfast also helps by boosting brainpower, reduce the risk of illness and help you make better food choices.
Journal your thoughts
You do not have to be prolific writer to keep a journal. In fact you can write it the way that best suits you from making sketches to lists. The most important thing is to put down your thoughts. It is a great way to relax your mind by analyzing and organizing your thinking. The best part is, its a form of self-love. It will be a big motivator to help you wake up because its an intimate way of reconnecting with yourself.
Plan your day

When you read in the morning, your mind is rested and fresh. This helps you to retain more information since your mind id most active. If you do it every day without fail, it becomes a habit which in turn becomes part of your morning routine.
It helps you start your day feeling inspired. Whenever I read a book in the morning, I feel inspired to implement all that I have read during the day.
Reading also gives you new ideas and insights to implement during the day. The awesome thing about books is that you can learn in a few hours what it took the author to learn in years. If you take your time to read a book in one week, you will carry along years of knowledge. Imagine the power of reading books.
Dance
Swaying your body to your favorite music every morning is exciting. It reminds you not to take your life too seriously and forget to do the little things that make you happy.
Go for a walk
Taking a walk especially around nature is therapeutic. I like walking after waking up. It helps me clear my head to conquer my day in-case I experience challenges.Looking at the weird shape of trees and listening to the chipping of birds has a way of turning pain into peace. The fresh air clears your head and helps you have a better perspective on life. You can spice up your walk by having a close friend or a dog. In situations where someone is depressed, having company while walking helps you express your feelings to them. A problem shared is half solved.
Walking in itself is a great way to motivate you to wake up everyday. if you make it exciting enough by listening to audio books or podcasts, you will make the most out of walking. Apart from keeping you physically fit, you will learn something new.
Dress up
Waking up early to dress up is the best way to practice self care. If you are used to going to work with a messy bun and comfy jeans and a T-shirt written I don’t care then this is what you need. When you take the time to style your hair, do your make up and pick up a feminine outfit will do more to your day than you can imagine. Your confidence will improve and you will love yourself more.
Pack your lunch
If you are anything like me, you probably hate eating out. I am a picky eater and anytime I wan to eat out, I try and ask yourself if the person who prepared the meal maintained the needed food preparing hygiene. The best way to get rid of this kind of anxiety is to pack my own lunch and make sure to have healthy fruits and smoothies packed.
